Rice-Eccles Stadium Expansion FAQ's
Why are we building the Ken Garff Performance Zone?
In evaluating several options for Rice-Eccles Stadium, the expansion and enhancement of the south end of the stadium became the best option for Utah Athletics and will be a game-changer for Utah football, as well as for all of our athletics teams that will benefit from the anticipated new revenue. We will build this as a community and celebrate many victories in an enhanced game-day environment in the decades ahead.
When will construction begin and when will the Ken Garff Performance Zone be completed?
Construction will begin in December 2019. The Ken Garff Performance Zone will open at the start of the 2021 season.

What other changes to Rice-Eccles Stadium can I expect with the addition of the Ken Garff Performance Zone?

Where can I learn more about the Ken Garff Performance Zone?
We are creating the Ken Garff Performance Zone Preview Center, adjacent to the current south end zone. The Preview Center will allow our Crimson Club members to virtually walk through the new amenities and conceptualize the future game day experience. Each Crimson Club member will have the opportunity to visit the Preview Center to learn more about the expansion while having the option to purchase the new seating experiences.
When will I be contacted regarding individual seating options?
Crimson Club members will be contacted in an order consistent with their donor level ranking. This process will last until we have given each member the opportunity to meet with us prior to offering the opportunities to our waitlist and the general public.
I am a Crimson Club member, but I am not a season ticket holder. What should I do?
All Crimson Club members will have priority to secure new premium seating in accordance with their Donor Level. A member of our Crimson Club team will contact you in the coming months to communicate your priority.
What will become of the Olympic Cauldron?
The Olympic Cauldron will be relocated to a more accessible location just north of the Rice-Eccles Stadium ticket office, outside the stadium’s fence line, where it will be more accessible year-round. It was raised by crane from its original location in February 2020 and is being refurbished at an offsite location. When that work is finished it will be re-installed in its new location where it will sit on a higher pedestal with historical markers to tell its story.
How will the project be financed?
Funding will come from a combination of private donations and future revenue streams generated by the premium seating options.
